Reed & Associates Marketing Earns No. 1 Fundraiser for the Hampton Roads St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

For the Third Year in a Row, Marketing Agency Ranks Top of the List for Funds Raised

NORFOLK, Va. — Reed & Associates Marketing, Inc. (R&A), a Norfolk-based marketing, advertising and public relations agency, joined hundreds of supporters at Norfolk Botanical Gardens on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. In its sixth year participating, R&A raised a total of $18,625 for the hospital.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The walk helps the hospital work to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade.

“Every year we look forward to fundraising for our St. Jude family,” said Ashley Knepper, co-owner and president of Reed & Associates Marketing. “I am overwhelmed by the passion and generosity of this team and our network of supporters.”

Since inception, R&A has raised and donated more than $50,000 in support of St. Jude. This year, R&A set and achieved a goal of $15,000 before the walk, earning its place as Hampton Roads no. 1 fundraiser for the third year in a row. Of the top ten individual local fundraisers, approximately seven were R&A team members, including Knepper and Kristin Buck, marketing coordinator for R&A.

This September, R&A also joined brands nationwide to “Show Your Gold” in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The company hosted team activities and launched a social media initiative on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

As a result of the funds raised and donated from the organization, R&A team members that met their $1,000 goal will go to St. Jude in December to visit with the families of the hospital. “I am so grateful to everyone who donated on my behalf,” added Buck. “Without their support, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to visit St. Jude.”

After receiving the 2014 Corporate VOLUNTEER Excellence Awards for the small business category, R&A was then featured on for the Making Your Mark segment highlighting ways the organization gives back to the Hampton Roads community year-round.

This winter R&A will continue its philanthropic efforts, through VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads’ VOLUNTEER Food Drive and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore Mayflower Marathon, on top of its annual trip to St. Jude in Memphis, Tenn.
